Peter Barker, a member of the club for some 10 years, will sail Bowtie Lady around the world doing solo ocean passages. He departed in early June 2007.
The boat is a Cole 43, 43 feet (or 13.27 metres) in length. Designed by Peter Cole and built by Bruce Fairlie at Gosford in 1984. She undertook her first Sydney to Hobart race in 1985 as Rangatira.
In 2001, known as Sole Globe Challenger she took Tony Mowbray around the world. He became the fastest Australian to sail around the world in 180 days non-stop, unaided, and unassisted. Since then the lady has undertaken another Sydney to Hobart as well as an expedition to Antarctica and a trans-Tasman solo yacht race
